The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

Update: Dentist visit went well; glad to have it all over for now! Still got a followup and a little sore, but in general, I'm good! Thank you guys. ToT I feel sooo much beeettter about well. Everything! Except that girly time happened. *clutches heating pad* Other than that, great birthday!

I just wrote up my first webcomic review on my blog. Erin helped me put together a format that is laidback and fun, and she transcribed for me while I talked while doing my work. ^_^

Anyway, it is Bottled Prince by S-Morishita! You can find it here. --> [link] I really like this format because it's a bit laidback and positive. It makes it easy to sit down for a few minutes and chat about a couple of points while not going zomg-too-deep-analysis. I can keep up with what I like and share it with everyone. I'll work on shifting my others, (Zedela's, Peter Pan, Miraj, etc.) Look for em! I'll be doing Winters in Lavelle pretty soon, too, since it's my fave webcomic. I check it like every week. *_* They'll be in a similar format too, with the little thumbnails, if that's all right. I think it makes it more fun to read along!
